A Polish friend recently ‘shared’ a story on my Facebook page entitled ‘7 Polish Heroes the World Should Know About.’ These seven Poles are known for their acts of bravery during WWII. The post is timely in honor of September 1, 1939, the day Germany invaded Poland.

I was not aware that three Polish cryptologists played a role in the Enigma decoding machine, or of Henryk Slawik, a Pole who saved thousands before being arrested and dying in Mauthausen.
