The Water Diviner, The Addams Family and a Rock Band

161323-Happy-Friday-The-13thHere’s three entertainment opportunities for a Friday the 13th – A new film by Russell Crowe opens in Poland; a Polish version of The Addams Family opens in Poland, and a rock band of New York Times best-selling authors plays a benefit concert in Tucson. Check out the Polish movie trailer for The Water Diviner with Russell Crowe – it hasn’t reached the United States yet.

The Water Diviner, with Russell Crowe
I discovered the latest Russell Crowe movie, The Water Diviner, opens this Friday, March 13, 2015 in Poland.  Warner Brothers will not begin releasing the movie in the United states on April 24 – so Poland came first! The film tells the story of an Australian man who travels to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli to try and locate his three missing sons. The film is Crowe’s directorial debut, and has already opened to rave reviews in Australia and New Zealand. Just for fun, I’m including the link to the trailer with Polish sub-titles.  If you don’t read Polish the audio is completely in English. The Water Diviner Trailer

The Addams Family – Polish version
On another fun note, a Polish adaptation of The Addams Family also opens Friday March 13, 2015 in Gliwice, a town in southern Poland, approximately 65 miles northwest of Krakow. I searched for a video on YouTube but could not find even a promo. I include a link to the Polish news story so you can catch a glimpse of Morticia and Gomez. Addams Family.

Tucson Festival of Books – Rock Bottom Remainders Concert
And on a third entertainment note, this weekend I am headed to Tucson, Arizona for the annual Tucson Festival of Books. I went last year for the first time and I’m a solid devotee of this fabulous event. For a special treat, my special friend Sande and I have tickets to the Rock Bottom Remainders Benefit Concert. If you’re wondering who the Rock Bottom Remainders are: they are New York Times best-selling authors Amy Tan, Mitch Albom, Dave Barry, Scott Turow, Ridley Pearson, Greg Iles, Alan Zweibel and Sam Barry. The concert benefits literacy in Tucson, and includes other goodies including a limited edition t-shirt created just for this event. It’s meant to be a fun evening and I’m quite psyched. Here’s to a happy Friday the 13th!
